Peopleoids were formed in early 2024 by singer-songwriter Richard Sutherland. Richard’s previous musical flirtation was as the founding member of The Acoustics of Buildings, arguably one of the most innovative ‘New Romantic’ bands of the 1980s. Created by Richard and three school friends in Lee Green in south-east London, they sought to emulate the success of Japan, who were formed in nearby Catford. Despite being enormously influential, The Acoustics of Buildings never played a single note. But the idea stuck and three decades later Richard decided to, er, write some actual songs – and Peopleoids is the result.

Peopleoids are currently working on some songs. They are also trying them out at various open mike nights to gauge reaction. They are also recording various demos.
Peopleoids first single ‘Sons of Catford’ was released on streaming services on Friday 20th December 2024. But it’s quite a rough demo and the song has changed a bit since. Still, it’s out there in the ether. It’s quite literally one in a billion.
